IAHCHC member  Professor William Connell will be the presenter for this event.

Please join us for a special exhibit on the canonization of Elizabeth Ann Seton and Seton Hall’s trip to Livorno, following in her footsteps. Afterwards, Professor Connell will show rare and special editions of the Little Flowers of St. Francis, the famous 14th-century book that recounts Francis’s miracles.

This event will continue to the Chancellor’s Suite for the 6 p.m. lecture of Prof. Christopher Bellitto, “Why Francis of Assisi Still Matters”, to be followed by a reception.

Please email Barbara Ritchie at [email protected] to RSVP for this event.

Why Francis of Assisi Still Matters

Date: Thursday, February 12, 2026
Time: 6:00pm - 8:30pm EST
Location: Bishop Dougherty University Center, Chancellor’s Suite

Christopher Bellitto, Ph.D, of Kean University will present lecture on St. Francis.

The Italian government restored October 4, the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi, as an annual national holiday starting 2026 on the 800th anniversary of his death.

Why does Francis of Assisi still matter?
Francis of Assisi is still teaching us about virtue and integrity, the common good and our shared environment, self-awareness and personal growth.
Join us as we explore the lessons and legacies of this poor, wandering medieval preacher for the 21st century.

About our logo

Picture
During Sal Lazzarotti's tenure as President of the IAHC, he skillfully created our Club logo.  If you look closely, not only does it contain the Italian and American flag colors, it also contains the letters "I" and "A" further denoting pride for our Italian and American heritages. )
